A beautiful French rosary and its outstanding case, shaped like a golden egg (I think it is polished brass) in the style of a Chatelaine, a valuable object which was hung off the Lady of the house's belt in the olden days.
 
The hinged case is engraved to leave a raised flowers design. The 'egg' is patinated, I have left it as found and measures 1.75" long.
 
Inside is a midnight blue lining, on one side only, it is loose and the other half has slipped away. 
 
Inside is a petit rosary in mother of pearl, with delicate lustrous beads and an intricately patterned cross. Its drop is 17"
