Absinthe spoons are a little part of French bar culture history and its artistic history too. Absinthe, also known as the Green Fairy, was a part of artistic Parisian café society. It was considered dangerous, causing hallusinations and was banned in 1915 for a nearly 100 years, today it is sold again but in a slightly milder form!

Made of cheap metal, as these spoons often were lost, damaged or went home with the customer in an old time French bar. They are now very collectible as a piece of  French history and display beautifully.

These were put over the large absinthe glass with a sugar lump on and the ice cold water was poured through it, into the absinthe. You can see the knotch on many designs where it rested on the glass rim.

The spoons measure between 6.25" and 7" long, all are used and show signs of their age.
