A delightful painting depicts a traditional country French scene, painted in the soft light of the early morning. Set in the courtyard of an old stone French Manoir, the farm girls look after the chickens and sit and chat. 
 
The painting is in an impressionistic style and skillfuly captures the atmosphere of the French countryside of the past.
 
The courtyard is surrounded by buildings gives a view through to the rest of the Manoir complex beyond. The buildings, an old cart in one corner, unmade track and the clothing suggest a scene from the late 19th to early 20th century.
 
The tower and buildings suggest this is a farm in Normandy or Pays de la Loire to the North west of France
 
The painting has some age related cracking, in the sky particularly, and one small hole to the canvas in the sky. There is the usual wear around the edge of the canvas.
 
It is signed in the bottom right hand corner and measures 16" by 13"
 
The painting came in a frame, removing it to clean (very gently) I thought it looked better without. If you would like the frame too, please contact me, there will be an additional shipping charge.
