A delightful pare of "Paroissien" prayer books, both leather bound with gilded page edges that catch the light beautifully

The first book, printed in Paris in 1866 has a plain leather cover and two clasps to close it. It is in very good condition and beautifully illustrated, colour at the front and monochrome in the main body of the text. It is particularly fine as it has the name of the printer embossed inside the cover which also has agilded edge, a lovely touch.

The secondis more worn and used, the book has ornate brass metal edging and the clasp has been lost. One aspect I particularly like is the wear of the leather on the front cover from being carried, hed and prayed with.

It was printed in 1868 in Dijon, but sold in Paris by Fauvel - 3 Rue du Marché St Honoré, a very smart area of Paris in the 1st Arrondissement, between the Jardin des Tuileries and  Place Vendome

They are sold as a Parisian pair and measure 5" by 3"
