In elegant gilded metal or ormolu, these were used in the 19th century to adorn splended pieces of French furniture. Today they make beautiful additions to French antique decor and are wonderful for vignette photography

They are for sale as a mis-matched pair as they work so well together.

The larger piece is more heavily patinated, you can see the nearer to original brightness on the reverse.

The curved embellishment starts at a Napoleon III style bow and has roses and leaves climbing along the length. (10.5")

The smaller is a very traditional shape in the Rococco style, but made at a later date, toward the end of the 19th century or even the beginning of the 20th. It has been well careed for and is brightly gilded. It has been repurposed at some stage in its life and has some remains of glue on the reverse which could probably be scraped off if required. It is 7.5" wide by 2" in the centre.
