This outstanding faisselle or cheese strainer mold made its way to a Paris antique market as a special item from the countryside because it is so unusually large and magnificent! 
 
In matte glazed terracotta, it is hand made and stands 9" tall, and 6.5" in diameter. You can see it next to a standard size 2 faisselle. 
 
The holes are irregular and made by hand, with the glaze having run as it was lifted from the glaze vat, making the stripes. There is an old chip on the underside of the turned over lip, its good to know that the mold was well used on the farm.
