A wonderfully designed sunburst French font. A wonderful find from a Paris merchant's chateau clearance 
 
It features a statue of Mary holding a crucifix of Jesus. She is standing on a plinth above the font, shaped as a shell with a serpent underneath.
 
I have gently cleaned it with a soft damp cloth only to preserve the patina,
 
It is very good quality, heavyweight bronze. The weight is reflected in the shipping.  It is 14" long.
