A tranquil scene painted well over 120 years ago in a corner of rural France, a small waterfall tumbles from a lake beyond into a stream surrounded by trees. The light reflects on the flowing water which also reflects the canopy of trees above.
 
There is a real sense of light and movement, absolutely enchanting in this oil on board dating back to the 1800s. 
 
It has the patina of age with the paint deeply crackled with age, but remaining secure on the board, no flaking. The board is a thick board as chosen by artists of this era.
