A gorgeously patinated ironstone pot from France.
 
It is more characteristic of a pharmacy pot rather than a confiture crock as the base is rounded, for use with ointments.
 
Dating from the 19th century, it is in good condition, there is a small firing crack (on the outside only) from the kiln and it is of course covered with fabuloous crazing of the deep glaze, highlighted with a light patination.
 
 It stands 4.5" tall
