Paris, atmospheric on a misty autumn morning, painted in 1946 from the banks of the river Seine, Quai Voltaire, looking past the Seine barges, where boats still moor today, and along the river towards the Pont du Carrousel and the Pont Royal. To the right is the impressive tower of the Louvre behind the trees with the beginning of an autumnal tone.
 
The painting is signed J Vacheret and dated oil on board and in the original if very timeworn frame, in this immediate post war year there were limited supplies following the occupation of France.
