This Holy Water font or benitier in French stopped me in my tracks in Paris.

It dates from between the end of the 1800s and the early 1900s. The crucifix is mounted on an eboised wood base. It is made of silver metal which has some patina of age.

The ends of the cross are made of particularly attractive and very ornate fligree work metal and the font itself has residue of the holy water inside, so has not been cleaned beyond a wipe with a dry cloth. The star on the front is a lovely detail.

On the back is a brass hook, engraved Paris

The cross measures 11" by 6"
