This beautiful tureen or soupière, standing tall, immediately caught my eye, its gorgeous crazed creamy ironstone with red transferware flowers, capucines or nastertiums scrambling across the bowl and lid.
Made by Bordeaux faiencerie under the direction of L Bertrand in the late 1800s , it is part of a series of floral designs.
There is some sepia patination as well as the crazing, all signs of its long life and use in a French home, also there is one chip on the underside of the foot. There is staining from hot soup on the inside.
It is a tall tureen standing 9.5" tall
