This is a rare find to add to your collection.
The footed gateau plate was made for the 'Depot Central' in Rue de Boneparte, in the heart of Paris Saint Germain. The design is also signed by the artist , Vivares, under a patch of grass at the bottom of the design.
It is in the style of the similar and famous Gien blue bird design, with a flock of 11 blue birds, adorned with hedgerow blooms and quaint cottages. However what makes an already collectible design very special is that it is a short run bespoke piece created for rich Parisian families.
There are raised sugar grain size bumps, believed to be from the kiln firing, but overall it is in good antique condition, dating from the end of the 1800s or maybe just into the 1900s.
It measures 9" across and 1.75" high.
