If you love French country scenes, these will, I hope, delight you.
 
A chicken in a nesting basket with her chicks, three hens on a fence watching a cockrel and some ducks swimming on a pond, all in warm brown transferware on a creamy gently patinated ironstone raised plate.
 
They are really interesting, as a collector, this pair of cake serving plates, available separately, are the same design but have different stamps
 
They are made by JV Bordeaux, the pattern is Volière  but the second was made for a Parisian store, Au Tapis Rouge. This was quite usual as Parisian stores wished to sell their own hand selected products.
 
The plates have seen some use beyond the light crazing and warm colouration.
 
The JV Bordeaux plate has a small crack under the chicks on the edge, it is difficult to see from the top.
The Tapis Rouge plate has some chips around the stand and on the underside of the edge.
