Tactile, hand made French stoneware ink bottles at their most primitive! 
 
Sold as a pair for their contrasting shapes and warm autumnal coordinating colours. A wonderful example of the daily vernacular life over 130 years ago.
 
The urn shaped footed ink is a paler glazed tactile bottle, it has a small old chip on the base, the straight sided bottle has a varied glaze all around the bottle and it has many signs of its age and use, it had a slip drip in the kiln and this was chipped off to make the bottle fit into the distribution case. you can see this in the pictures.
 
There are no cracks and both bottles are sound, and they stand 6.5" tall.
