Wonderfully weathered and worn with verdigris and other patination of age, completely irrisistable when spotted in the Paris fleamarket!
The word 'Allumettes' or matches is written in raised letters on the front.
It is difficult to accurately give the age but from speaking to the stall holder, we can assume it is pre World War 2.
Please note there are two small slots in the lid, this probably has a match striker strip attached which will have disintegrated with age.
The box measures 6.5" tall, 5.5" wide and 3" deep
