A wonderful and very special find from Chatou Paris antique fair. This large and beautiful compote with delightful polychromatic floral decotation is a rare find. It is an impressive  antique ironstone table centre and came from a grand Parisian house.

It stands 8" tall and has a large rounded edged rectangular shaped dish on top of an exquisitely shaped and decorated column standing on a shaped base.

With the delicate crazing, fading and patination of age and use over the last 140 or more years, particularly on the inside of the shallow bowl, it is a wonderful soulful piece with a history. Perfect for serving fruit and for displaying a collection.

The Boulanger Choisy-le-Roi stamp on the base dates it from 1878. It is also stamped Terre de fer, French for ironstone.

The base has two small chips, clearly pictured, which can be placed to the back

The bowl measures 12" by 10"
