A wonderful piece of advertising ephemera from French iconic chocolate brand Chololat Menier.
This cardboard box in the classic blue and white opens up to display the chocolate bars inside on the shop counter. I always am amazed that these survive.
The advertising in the green rectangle is for the prizes won through to 1885, thus the box would be reasonably dated from the late 1880s, or later prizes would have been added.
It held 88 small bars of chocolate and measures 7.5" by 5.25" by 2.75" high.
The box still has the seal of authenticity that was broken when the box was open.
There is fading and wear to the box, particularly on the hinged side where the lid opens to display the chocolate. The inside fo the lid is bright and no doubt closer to the original cover.
