A very rare find, especially in red transferware, this glorious bird raised cake serving plate in the design "Oiseaux", birds in French, by JV&Cie Bordeaux, dating to the 19th century.
 
It has a delightful decoration of the birds in a French country hedgerow with insects fluttering above and another bird flying in with a nesting branch in its mouth, enchanting.
 
It is in good condition with bright decoration and clear ironstone. There is a minor chip underneath the rim.
 
It measures 9” diameter  by 2” tall
