Blue birds and ironstone from Paris and perfetly patinated 19th century ironstone too! This is indeed a rare and beautiful piece of French history.
 
Made for the famous Depot in Rue Etienne Marcel, running behind the Louvre Museum in the up market shopping area, especially in 19th century. People came from Paris and the surrounding wealthy areas to buy the latest elegant products for their home.
 
The stamp on the base confirms this and also it is marked "terre de fer" French for ironstone.
 
The base is amazingly parinated, a caramel colour particularly inside, and the lid is more its original shade, as is normal as the hot food would change the colour of the ironstone. The video shows me finding it on the antique market stall!
 
It measures 9" diameter across the lid and just over 11" across the handles of the bowl. It is approximately 7" tall.
