A rare and wonderful find, imagine the parties, social events and intreagues this fan has seen in Paris! Fans were used by ladies to subtly flirt and communicate messages as well as a beautiful accessory.
 
To find it with its beautiful fabric covered bespoke box with the tiny roses is very unusual. The faded green, pink gold and cream fabric is very special.
 
This antique fan found in Paris would have been an evening fan to accompany a delightful gown. 
 
It is of a fine net material and has metalic sequins and flower and leaf shapes that would have sparkled in the candlelight. The frame has a gilded design.
 
The material is very fragile and has split in several places along the folds, it is sepia tinged with age, as is the frame and to a lesser extent the inside of the case. Please see close ups for condition. The box is 8.5" long and the fan approximately 8" long. It would benefit from being framed behind glass.
