Sweet and very attractive pairs of 'demi-porcelaine' cups with  pearlescent highlights.

Early polychrome transferware was very popular at the end of the 19th century and Badonviller adopted the popular 'Japonaisism' motifs for its Tokio range. This was the time when Japan was opening out to the western world and Japonese art and gardens in particular became very sought after and à la mode.

These beautiful little coffee cups capture this with their garden and pagoda images at the beginning of the use of polychrome techniques on faïence.

The cups are being sold in pairs, all show signs of age and use. They are approximately 1.5" or 4cm tall.
