I am so excited to bring you this incredibly rare find,  an exquisite jewellery stand from Paris.
 
It has a delightful filigree ormolu (gilded metal) box with the original cerulean blue silk cushion, with a thick belevelled glass hinged lid, above which is an ornate stand, holding an oval bevelled, framed mirror. each side has a holder for a small candle, which can also be used for dried flowers.
 
The design is completely gorgeous, so French, so Parisian and a perfect example of the fashion of its era,  dating back to the time Napoleon III, second half of the 19th century.
 
It has signs of its age; some wear to the silk of the cushion, although is is in no way threadbare. It has a dent in the metalwork of the box on the back right where one leg has become slightly misshaped. The mirror has some slight foxing. The oromlu finish shows some signs of age, it has developed a rich golden patina. The candle holders on each side are no longer round.
 
It stands 7" tall and 6" across the widest part, the candle holders, and 2.5" deep
