This beautiful raised gâteau plate from the Papillons (butterflies)  series by sought after manufacturers Creil et Montereau dates from the late 1800s to the early 20th century. 
 
It is a beautiful old creamy ironstone with a light to mid blue transferwear design featuring a butterfly visiting flowers, the pattern around the rim and the base is very pretty. 
 
There is  age related crazing and light staining, as is to be expected of a plate displaying 100 years plus of age and use. There is one tiny chip under the rim and some slightly rough feeling areas to the edges, but it is in remarkably good condition. 
 
The plate is 4cm or 1.75" tall and 23cm 9" diameter
