Dated 1920 and re-framed in later years, this authentic sampler work by a young girl practicing her stitches is full of charm. Notice the different edging styles and stitches she has practiced. 
 
This would have been the work of a very young girl, maybe 8-10 years old. This would have been practice for monograming her trousseau which started with similar red letters on torchons or teatowels and moved on to more intricate napkins, tablecloths and sheets. 
 
The sampler measures 8" by 8" and the frame just under 10" by 10" (with a little water marking on the top). This can be sent without the frame if required which will reduce shipping costs. If you would like this unframed, please add a message to your order and I'll refund shipping.
