There are so many uses for this beautifully made board, I have one in he kitchen that multi tasks from a pot stand to a serving platter.
It looks like it's made of oak, certainly a hardwood. The handle has a beautifully tactile feel. 
There are a very few insect holes, long vacated, as is to be expected of an item of this age. It has been treated, as all wood is at Quintessentially French as a matter of course. 
The paddle measures 30cm or 1' long, 15cm 6" wide and the board is approximately 2cm 1" thick.
