Wonderfully hand crafted French grain measures hand made in the traditional bent wood style which have developed a beautifully warm hue through age and use.
 
Each of their capacities has been stencilled on the front in black in the traditional manner. They would have been used by merchants selling grain and other dry comodities to ensure customers were given an accurate measure. These were found in Paris as although they have a rustic charm and therefore display beautifully in both Parisian and country French decor styles.
 
They have their authenticity for official weights and measures for use in a store to measure loose food confirmed with an official stamp of the front. 
 
There are some age marks to the wood from the iron fixings that hold the wood together, some small amounts of rust on the metal tops which I have left as it's original patina, but they remain in great vintage condition and would be perfect for storage in a kitchen, or for stationery or bits and bobs on your desk.
 
They measure  5" for the Litre, 4" for the demi litre.
