Every traditional French bar had a carafe of water for customers to add to their Suze, a drink flavoured with gentian root favoured as an aperitif, a little like pastis, drunk with a splash of water.
This has a good age, probably pre war vintage. It is made of thick glass and has Suze and the Art Deco style design associated in relief.
Very hard to capture glass in a photograph, it is a charming and rare piece of old French social history that can be useful in your home.
The carafe is 8.5" or 21.5cm tall
