Just like an adult size milk pail, but only just over 3" tall, this is from a doll's dinner service. It is the same blue bird service as the full size bowl listed along side it, but in miniature, it has the Gien stamp on the base dating it from 1875. Imagine the delight on a child's face, receiving it as a gift and carefully playing with it.
It has a soft French blue transferware design with a blue birds, flowers and windmills, so attractive and the same pattern as on the adult diner service but scaled down.
It is crazed but intact, even with the lid. There is one glaze crack from the rim which is only one side of the pail. There would have been a woven wicker handle on the 'ears' which could be replaced with thread. I have left it as found.
A beautiful and rare collectible treasure.
