A perfectly timeworn pair of French chapel altar sticks dating from the Napoleon III era.
They are ormolu, gilded metal and show all the signs of well over 100 years of use, polishing and accidents!
The gilding has worn in places and there are many dinks and dents, one is even at a slight angle where it appears to have been dropped at some stage in its life, the candle holding part is level and will function properly.
These are marks of their life, use and authenticity making them truly charming. The image of the inside of the base is an indication of their original colour and finish.
They remain stable, solid and useable.
They are very slightly different in dimensions although they have the same pattern and design, they are artisan made and therefore will have small differences. I understand they came from the same chapel.
The one is 21" tall, the other 21.5" or 50 and 51cm. The bases are 23cm or 5" diameter
All Quintessentially French items are vintage or antique, they are old and characterful and show wear consistent with their age and from being used. To most people, this is the quintessence of their charm.
