This authentic French advertising match striker would have lived on a bar or bistro counter, designed to make people choose Dubonnet as their apérotif. It would have been filled with matches which would have been struck on the ridged section.
It was made by a Parisian company, C Dodeman and is stamped on the bottom.
It makes a wonderful French themed display curio and is lovely with perhaps a candle or some flowers.
There is a little old damage from its life in a bar around the rim, which is pictured.
The pyrogène measures 10cm 4" diameter at the base and 7cm 3" tall.
All Quintessentially French items are vintage or antique, they are old and characterful and show wear consistent with their age and from being used. To most people, this is the quintessence of their charm.
